Transfiguration Mural

Our Transfiguration mural

crafted in the Italian high Renaissance style, captures the transformative moment when Christ's appearance radiates with glory, signaling the ultimate victory over sin and death. Positioned alongside Moses and Elijah, Christ bridges the gap between the Old and New Testaments. The three disciples—James, Peter, and John—privileged witnesses to this divine revelation, underscore its immense importance to our faith.

Further, the mural's details reveal a rich theological narrative, featuring martyrs St. Felicissimus and St. Agapitus of Palestrina kneeling beside the mountain. Their presence underscores the sacrificial nature of Christian discipleship. Moses and Elijah's enduring figures emphasize the ongoing relevance of divine revelation. The depiction of an ailing child, accompanied by anguished parents, portrays humanity's plea for divine mercy. Similarly, a woman pointing towards the child embodies the transformative power of faith, symbolizing spiritual fulfillment in Christ's presence. Disciples consulting scripture reflect the quest for spiritual guidance, recognizing Christ as the source of wisdom and healing.

Together, these elements create a tableau that captures the essence of the Transfiguration and prompts reflection on its significance for all who gaze upon it.
